Rest is Your Superpower

Entrepreneurship will test your limits. It’s bold, brave, and often beautiful; it’s also exhausting if you’re not careful. There’s always something else to do, someone to respond to, another task calling your name. But let me remind you of this truth: you’re not a machine. You’re a vessel. And even vessels need to be refilled.

Somewhere along the way, many of us bought into the lie that rest is a luxury. That it’s something you “earn” after the work is done. But in reality, rest is not a reward, it’s a requirement. Your best ideas, sharpest strategies, and clearest decisions don’t come from burnout. They come when your mind is still, your body is nourished, and your spirit is quiet enough to hear from God.

Taking over the world is not for the faint of heart. But even world-changers need a nap. When you neglect rest, your mood dips, your decisions become cloudy, and your body starts to shut down. You were never meant to run non-stop. And if you’re constantly running on empty, it’s only a matter of time before something breaks.

Yes, the Bible says if you don’t work, you don’t eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10 NIV). But here’s something just as true: if you don’t rest, you won’t be around to work. Think about that. What good is building an empire if you lose yourself trying to maintain it?

Somewhere along the way, many of us bought into the lie that rest is a luxury. That it’s something you “earn” after the work is done. But in reality, rest is not a reward, it’s a requirement. Your best ideas, sharpest strategies, and clearest decisions don’t come from burnout. They come when your mind is still, your body is nourished, and your spirit is quiet enough to hear from God.

Here’s How to Reset and Rest (Without Losing Momentum):

  1. Schedule Rest Like a Meeting. Block it on your calendar and honor it. Don’t cancel it.

  2. Step Away from the Noise. Put your phone on “Do Not Disturb,” turn off notifications, and give your brain a break.

  3. Do Something That Fills You Up. Read. Walk. Sit in silence. Breathe. Listen to worship. Take a nap without guilt.

  4. Talk to God. Then Listen. Rest creates space for divine downloads. You can’t hear if you’re always doing.

  5. Say No Without Explaining. You don’t owe everyone access. Protect your peace like your future depends on it...because it does.

So, if you’ve been running on fumes, this is your sign to slow down, breathe, and honor the power of rest. You don’t have to grind your way to greatness. Let God refill you. Let silence realign you. Let sleep restore you.

The same Bible that tells us “If you don’t work, you don’t eat” also commands us to rest, to keep Sabbath, and to steward our bodies and spirits well. In this way, both work and rest are sacred. Rest isn’t weakness, it’s wisdom. And wisdom will keep you in the game for the long. Rest is your secret weapon. Use it well.

I'm rooting for you,

RJ
